No Bookmark Needed

I'm not a reader. There I said it. My Husband loves to read. He will read anything. Maybe even twice sometimes. Weirdo. For some odd reason he wants me to pick up a book too. He says its because he wants us to have some reading time together. I think he just wants to see if the book will melt in my hands. I don't know why I can't get into reading. I think it's because I just hadn't found a book to keep me interested. After reading the first paragraph if I'm not "lost" in the story, I'm not going to be into it. What? I'm a girl who knows what she likes. The rambling has a point, I swear.
My Mother in-law had a book sitting on the counter that caught my eye. It had a doggy on the cover. I love doggies! I love anything about animals. I'm an animal lover. (Like you haven't picked that up already!) Jackson always thought that the book I read would have to have pictures in it. No, dogs will do just fine. The book I picked up was The Art of Racing in the Rain by: Garth Stein.
The Art of Racing in the Rain: A Novel [Book]
I couldn't put this book down. I finished it in two days. For a non-reader (such as myself) I thought that was pretty good. This book made me laugh, cry, and everything in between. My Husband would be proud!

I'll cut you

Cutting my Husbands hair it definitely a nail biting experience. When he said "I think we should cut back on our expenses" I didn't know he meant it literally. You want me to cut your hair? He's got the wrong girl. The wrong twin for that matter. My sister's the hair dresser. A good one at that. Oh the pressure! All through out cutting his hair I would cry out "I'm sorry if I screw this up," "I have no idea what I'm doing," and Jackson's favorite-"I'm just going to do." These are all the things you want to hear your hair dresser Wife say as she's holding something sharp in her hands. The end result always turns out well but I can't help but be a ball of nerves.

How does your garden grow?

Ok, I'll be the first to admit I'm not the best when it comes to taking care of plants but I do try. I try real hard to be honest. I water them every day. Well sometimes I forget to water them...but I don't mean to. It just happens. At times they seem to be hurt that I hadn't paid attention to them that day because their heads are slumped over and all. Gosh, I feel like a bad Mother plant owner. After a little water and TLC they perk right back up again and everything is right in the world.
And now I would like for you to meet my next set of victims plants. Meet my new herb garden! Hopefully. I picked it up at Home Depot. Man, I used to hate that place when I was a little kid, but that's a whole different story.

The Packet came with 4 soil tablets.
Add water and watch them expand. Fun little project for kids!
Next break up the soil tablets with a fork. I noticed I had to add more water than recommended. This allowed the soil tablets to soften and break up more easily.
This is what it looks like when all the soil has expanded and broken up. It's now time to get down to business...planting time!!
The planter came with 4 different types of herbs. Nothing's better than fresh herbs!
Then I added the soil. I then filled the other 3 pots.
Parsley, Cilantro, Oregano, and Chiles.
I figured I would forget which plant was what so I made myself a little label! I thought that was a pretty clever idea myself. I have to say I patted myself on the back for this one.

My Dark Side

Nothing makes me feel better than doing my nails all up and pretty like. Ok well maybe I would feel better if someone else would do them for me but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. And this girl is doing it with China Glaze...my nails that is. Geeze! The nail color I'm rocking right now is called Evening Seduction.
Side note: Where on earth do they come up with some of these names?

What nail color are you digging now adays?

Living on the edge

I came across this little beauty surfing the net. And to think my Husband thinks all I do is play on facebook. Ha ha wrong again Buddy! Since Jack and I live in an itty bitty living space (much like the genie bottle from Aladdin) we have to work with the space we have. Needless to say, I was going a little nutty without having some green in my life. Now I can feast my eyes on my pretty little flowers. Thanks to my 3 new Railing/Balcony Planters!

They say if a woman can take care of a plant then she can take care of a baby. We'll see how long our new little plants make it.

Let's get rich!

This song embodies everything my Husband and I are. My Husband is currently in school and I am...currently jobless. Major bummer. Needless to say, we don't have much but we have each other. We dream of the huge 2 story house, white picket fence, and a huge yard for our 15 dogs and kids to run around on. Yes, I want a boatload of dogs and Jackson wants a boatload of kids. Talking about a house full! As of right now, it's all just a dream but we can always dream.

Fire Marshall Bill

After my run in with the "monstrous" oven flames the other day I might have gone a little overboard. Fire Marshall Bill would be so proud. I made a quick stop at Target to pick up a couple of life saving supplies. Who am I kidding, a stop at Target is never a quick trip but that's beside the point.
Here's the goods:

I had these items in the cart but Jack made me put them back:

He's such a Negitive Nancy sometimes. We already have fire alarms in our house but I think you can never have too many. Haha! Ok so maybe I was going a little overboard.

It's getting hot in here!

While Jack was taking the pup-pups out for their afternoon stroll, I was being the good little Wife that I am and popped a pizza in the oven for lunch. Bad idea. When I went to put the pizza in (the now fully heated oven), I noticed the oven had caught on fire. That's a little too hot for my taste. I don't like burnt pizza...let alone a burnt house. With my mind going 90 to nothing, I turned off the oven and grabbed the first thing in sight...flour. With no Husband around, I flew out the door yelling for him. Jack was too far away, so a neighbor (anyone for that matter) would do. My hero neighbor Alex helped me put out the flames, and kept me from having a heart attack. I think it's safe to say Valentine's weekend was pretty heated.
This whole container used to be full of flour.
A little later that day we turned up another kind of heat. That's right Ladies and Gent's, my main man and I went on a hot date. Lucky me! Jack surprised me with tickets to the Jacksonville Symphony featuring Tony Desare.

My Husband fell in love when the Symphony started playing the James Bond medly. I fell in love with this guy. Shhh...don't tell him I said that.

I would say the night was a sucess. A great ending to a great night! I love this man.

This is the scarf that never ends...

yes it goes on and on my friends. I started making it not knowing how long this would go on and now I continue making it forever just because......
I started making this scarf in the beginning of January and I feel like this project is never ending. I am hoping by blogging about it and putting myself in the so called "hot seat" it will kick my knitting skills into high gear. Did I mention this was my first time knitting...anything. So far so good. Right?

Trying to fit in.

Have you ever felt like you just don't belong? That's what I think my new rug felt like in my living room. I wanted so badly for the rug to feel "one" with the room. Kinda like a marriage. Ya know when you find your soulmate it just clicks. Needless to say, this rug just wasn't clicking.
It got along better in the kitchen but I think they're just friends.
The rug has found its soulmate! They are "one" with eachother. Everything clicks.
The patio and rug are expecting new additions to their happy little family soon. We will be overjoyed to share with you on a later date.
